Newspaper articles about trans people are often sensational and contribute to a construction of a negative stereotype about trans people and the trans community. With a proper use of language and a different approach, which shows respect and protects the privicy and dignity of trans people, journalists can help to change the situation. The aim of these recommendations, provided by Praxis, Gayten-LGBTI and ebart, is to encourage ethical and professional reporting, respecting the personal integrity and dignity of trans people, as well as providing support for journalists in the sense of defining standards in reporting about this topic and getting to know trans identities and the specificy of the context of the existing of trans people.
